BLACKPINK The Album

The Album (stylized in all uppercase and alternatively titled "BLΛƆKPIИK The Album") is the first Korean studio album and second album overall by BLACKPINK. It was released on October 2, 2020 with the song “Lovesick Girls” serving as the album’s title track. “How You Like That” and “Ice Cream” were pre-released on June 26 and August 28, 2020, respectively.

‘The Album’ (BLACKPINK) Album Info

On May 18, 2020, YG Entertainment revealed BLACKPINK would be doing a three part comeback. It will begin in June with the pre-release single "How You Like That" and end in September. YG revealed that BLACKPINK had recorded more than 10 new songs for their upcoming album. Their first song was to be released in Mid-June as a pre-release single. The second song was a new kind of song scheduled for a release in late July or August. Finally their full length album was revealed to be released in September with no exact date

On July 23, it was revealed BLACKPINK was gearing up for another single in their 3 step comeback after their successful "How You Like That" release. YG dropped a colorful teaser with the girls above and an empty space with the word "Featuring". It is the 2nd part in the 3 step comeback. Reporters also suspected they would collaborate with Selena Gomez, but no official statement had been announced. Later, the song was confirmed to feature American solo artist Selena Gomez. On August 21, it was revealed that they will be collaborating on the track "Ice Cream."

On July 28, YG dropped a teaser image and the album cover for their long awaited studio album, titled BLACKPINK The Album or THE ALBUM set for release on October 2, 2020. It will be the final part for their 3-part comeback after "How You Like That" and "Ice Cream"

On September 27, it was announced that BLACKPINK will be holding a comeback live event on October 1. On September 28, it was announced that Lovesick Girls will be the title track off their album, The Album. Later that day they also released the album's tracklist, which revealed that both Jennie and Jisoo participated in writing the lyrics for Lovesick Girls.

BLACKPINK explained that "The Album" shows a more mature part of the group, through singing not only about love, but diverse emotions experienced by girls growing up". The group also stated that "there are a lot of different emotions, not just love" on the album.

BLACKPINK began music show promotions on October 10th at Music Core. For the first week of promotions , they performed both "Lovesick Girls" and "Pretty Savage."

On October 21, BLACKPINK held a livestream on Tik Tok. The members talked about their first full length album, The Album, how they've been doing, played quizzes, and interacted with fans through various corners.
