On September 28, it was announced that Lovesick Girls will be the title track off their album, The Album. On June 2, 2021, it was announced that BLACKPINK would release their Japanese version of The Album on August 3, 2021.  On July 7, it was announced that a limited edition photobook will be released on August 9 as part of one of the "4+1" projects for BLACKPINK's anniversary.
