She debuted as a member of AOA on August 9, 2012 with the group's first single album "Angels' Story".

On October 20, 2022 FNC Entertainment announced that Seolhyun had left AOA and the agency after deciding not to renew her contract. It was also reported that she is in talks to sign with IEUM Hashtag, although nothing had been decided. Later, on November 10, it was confirmed that Seolhyun had signed on with the agency.
